The Facebook Ad platform is one of the most powerful when it comes to audience targeting. From interests, demographics and behaviours available through the targeting section, through to creating custom audiences based off of standard events, custom events, different parameters, your own customer files, LTV files, and then there's Lookalikes! The possibilities are endless.  These are cold audiences, meaning we're not including Retargeting audiences.  Here we go...

Base Audience: We often use videos and content pieces in our ad campaigns to help preframe and educate prospects. Each person who watched 100% of the video or webinar is added into this audience. These are the exact people we want requesting more informationa s they should have a good understanding of the product/service we're advertising.

There is a downside, if the visitor has multiple tabs open and leaves the video running whilst browsing Facebook, watching funny cat videos on Youtube or jumps off to have dinner they will still be added to this audience, however that really goes for any audience.

It's also important to point out this audience is built using GTM and Luna Metrics script. If you're serious about tracking you should be using Google Tag Manager anyway, inside GTM you can add video watched audiences for Youtube, Vimeo and Wistia videos.

As you can see, below we're using the event 'Purchase' along with the url they are on, this is because this client is using Acuity who fire off the purchase event on call booked and start throwing hissy fits if you redirect using a thank you page.

Lookalike Audience - Good Credit + Down Payment Leads (Using segmentation)

Lookalike Audience - Good Credit + Down Payment Leads (Using segmentation)

Base Audience: We use survey funnels for our lead generation campaigns in the Financial space. This allows us to use logic jumps and score leads dependent on how they answer the questions. For example, when we'll ask 'Estimated credit score' or 'Do you have a down payment of at least 3.5%', if they answer poor or no then we can segment them and send them to a different thank you page. This means, only good quality leads are making it to the good thank you page.

Base Audience: In the finance space, most companies require some kind of application. Whether mortgage, personal loan, debt relief, investment etc. You'll need to gather a file of all leads that went to application (It's good practice to sort by approved and disapproved as well), then upload to Facebook as a customer file. Create your lookalike and get targeting.
